What year did you start CrossFitting?


Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?

I played every sport growing up, but I was almost too small to play high school football. In order to get bigger and get conditioned for the sport, I began lifting weights and reading training materials when I was 13 years old. Since then, I have been completely obsessed with the pursuit of strength and still push the limits of my mind and body in the gym. Although my team sport days are long behind me, I still compete at a high level in Powerlifting and MAS Wrestling.

Why did you become a trainer?

I began personal training in 2005 and immediately knew I wanted to be involved with training and coaching for the rest of my life. Since then, I’ve been a collegiate strength and conditioning coach, accrued tens of thousands of hours personal training, and had the opportunity to work with close to 100 NCAA All-Americans, 4 NCAA National Championship teams, and several dozen regionally and internationally ranked strength sport athletes.

What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?

Deadlifts. Nothing feels cooler than picking up heavy stuff.

What is your favorite cheat food?

I’ve never met a food that I couldn’t justify not eating. Except for pickled herring. Pickled herring tastes like the stuff of nightmares.

What’s your favorite Superhero and why?

I’d say the Hulk for obvious strength reasons. But, Batman has better leverages for the power lifts. Yes. If Batman were on a better training program, anthropomorphically speaking, he has the potential to squat, bench, and deadlift more than the Hulk. I put way too much thought into this.
